has anyone seen the 4 part TV interview with smita patil that was filmed in the late 80s? it was on youtube for a week and then disappeared... such a shame that someone is sitting on this footage with no plans of sharing it with the world... it was one of those rare moments where the actress could tell her own story.
60's acting was all about heart, emotional and very touching. 70's and 80's saw the advent of great actors with immaculate skills such as smita patil, shabana azmi, om puri, sanjeev kumar etc. This movie is just a brief testimony of my statement. One of the greatest movies till date. btw starting from 90s to 2000 we began to see shrinking size and clothes of actors. Packed with muscles and caked with make ups, thats all there is in movies nowadays. Where are the ppl with talents like before?
The 90s also saw the trend of mob money poring into film industry. Eventually, they began to dictate who the leading cast should be "guarantee" their returns. There are talented actors always. I hope Bollywood follows Hollywood where are block-busters are animated movies (Ice Age, Cars, Toy Story...) and there is no concept of "stars".
