North Wales Police are on the look out for unwanted dogs that could have what it takes to be operational police dogs looking for cash and drugs.
Canines are needed to fill vacancies within the force's Dog Section after the recent retirement of a number of animals.
Six weeks training will be given and candidates need to be healthy working dogs. Officers are on the lookout for preferably Springer Spaniels and Labradors aged approximately 12 months, of sound temperament with plenty of drive to play.
The dogs will live with their handler and be involved in a wide range of rewarding police work.
After the initial training the dogs will become full-time police sniffer dogs -- searching for cash and all types of drugs and taking part in various operations and warrants.
Sergeant Gareth Crowe of the force's Dog Section, which is based in Rhuddlan said: "Potential candidates will be assessed in their home environment. If this is successful, arrangements will be made for the dog to be brought into force for further assessments.
"People may have taken a dog on as a puppy and no longer feel able to manage it due to it's drive and being hyperactive. Police dogs receive top quality care and attention while taking part in stimulating and rewarding work."
Anyone interested in donating their dog should contact Sergeant Gareth Crowe on 0845 607 1001 (Welsh line) 0845 607 1002 (English language line)
