Not the greatest quality, but a fun document from the white suit period. I especially like the "ghostly" fade effects at the end. I've seen a screencap from this with the colors still vividly intact, so I'm sure a better quality version exists somewhere. I imagine this was sent to TV stations in countries the band didn't visit...or played on Scopitone machines, though it's more static than most Scopitones I've seen.

  • when i see TONY play, tears comes to my eyes, it boggles my mind, as to how good the HOLLIES are....i love this video..thank you for posting...roots66

  • Yes, Tony has that effect on the ladies...and on certain fellas too! Welcome to youtube Holliemania luvs, I see you've discovered it's one of the best ways to fritter your life away...

  • Haha!! roots66 disclaiming the quality...and all the usual suspects absolutely loving it!!! That's SO Hollies YouTube!!

    Keep 'em coming!!

  • I do have another "Sorry Suzanne" clip from the Tom Jones Show that doesn't appear to be on YT already--with LIVE vocals. The vid quality is even worse than this and it has a big ol' watermark right down the middle...but I'd be happy to put it up if anyone would like to see it even in that piss-poor state.

  • @roots66 That clip is fortunately included on the new DVD in beautiful quality!

  • @ChasNDaveVideos Actually, the one that I put up (crappy as it is) is ever-so-slightly different than the one that's on the DVD (and which "Carrie-Anne" put up a while back in black & white). Same set, same cheesy white suits, but a different "performance." I can only surmise that they filmed different versions for the British and U.S. editions of the show.

  • @roots66 That's interesting. I also have the "crappy" version (on DVD), so I'll compare the two later. You're right in that they often filmed different performances for the USA & UK for 'This Is Tom Jones', certainly in the case of Dusty Sprinfield & Jerry Lee Lewis when they appeared on the show (something to do with the differening TV systems at the time apparently).

Has anyone compared the different videos / DVDs of 'He Ain't Heavy' in case they're different too?

  • Love this video of disappearing Tony!

  • I recall watching some ice capades show on TV, WAY BACK...and the Hollies were a guest. I have NEVER forgotten the image of Tony Hicks wearing "dress" bib pants and playing a guitar that looked four times too big for him. Another odd memory that I have never forgotten...and have never tried to!

  • Yes, this was the clip who saw in Hong Kong when I was in kindergarten. Still remember the fading away of the guys and especially the two nice strumming of the acoustic guitar.

  • Terry and Tony-both looking gorgeous as ever here!♥♥

  • I dig chicks who dig Tony! :-)

  • mmmmm.....Tony

  • lyndloo, is that you getting all excited? I didn't think you liked Allan Clarke that much!!!
