Thank you so much, greatly appreciate it :)

@version2media You can do live feed to ustream and other sites via USB if your camera has USB and your computer has USB. Firewire to USB usually doesn't work.

Oh, no, I'm not trying to use sony movie studio for anything at all, just trying to see if usb 2.0 firewire works to do live feed, connected to comp and using u stream

@version2media No, you can not capture live video via USB using Sony Movie Studio - even if the USB is a firewire converter.

ok, another question...what if I install a "FireWire ExpressCard" Adapter to my laptop, will that now be able to let met/support live video feed over the internet from my laptop from my mini-dv camcorder? I will be filming a 3-4hr. football game/sporting event

@version2media I would never recommend trying to do a live video capture of a 3-4 hr event via firewire to a laptop from a mini-dv camera.

@guerillabill so what would you recommend? :\ Im getting hired to film a football game this weekend, games are usually 3hrs, we got several other self owned sport media groups who film 3hr games 2 or 3 times a week? dont know the exact equipment they are using, saw once they just had a camcorder on tripod wired to laptop with a microphone and that was it? I'm trying to do the same basically? would it help if I sent you their website link/ustream channel? to see what I'd be doing

@version2media If you want to video a live football game, record it within the camera onto tape. Don't try to save live video to a laptop. Use a tripod, have plenty of batteries, use a zoom microphone, have extra tapes. Do a test run before you do it for money.

@guerillabill yes this game will be a test run, Yes, I will be recording onto tape, I'm not saving it to my laptop, I'm just saving it online to ustream since it lets you host it/save it on there, I wont save anything footage at all on my laptops memory. I have 2 backup batteries, tripod, and all the needed accessories...so just to ensure from my original question...by me installing that firewire expresscard to my laptop, I can use that to hook up firewire cable to do live streaming correct?

@version2media Live streaming to ustream requires a fast internet connection. Even with a very fast connection, the streamed video will be low resolution, with low frame rate. To get better video at ustream, you have to pay for a premium plan, have a extremely fast connection, and HD video source. And unless the internet connection is rock solid, expect the stream to drop several times during a 3 hour production. And no, a firewire express card on your laptop generally won't work well.
