Who are the new migrants? Why has there been such an increase in recent years? What are the challenges and who benefits? Made in conjunction with the Geographical Association, this programme explores the issue of migration through the experiences and lives of migrants and their families. The examples encourage students to think about migrants differing countries of origin, motivations, intended durations of stay, ages, and socio-economic situations both in the UK and their country of origin. It includes interviews with the polish community in rural Llanelli, asylum seekers and refugees in Sheffield and an illegal immigrant from Africa.

Endorsed by Edexcel for use with their Geography GCSE A and B specifications and for their GCE Geography specification.

Mentioned in the OCR sample schemes of work and lesson plans/Teacher's Handbook for OCR GCSE Geography A and B 2009 specifications.

  • I agree with the comment below. Great upload, thanks very much! :D

  • This is an excellent video, for someone like me who is studying Edexcel A levels it just gives you the outline of what the advantages and disadvantages are which means you can go away and explore them in more detail. Well done!
