And we'll talk about secular parents homeschooling their children. Why they do it. What the benefits/detriments are? Plus your calls and emails.

I went to public school and i was fucking miserable. I was more focused on dealing with the harassment then learning.

Also had an awful time at school to . And learned little because of the religious stuff here. So a lot of people know why I home school and agree with me. I realise for some reason people think only religious people do it. Probably when you dont live in Ireland they do.

try to find a case of a kid where unschooling did not work properly. And by talking to some of the other kids i go to school with, i doubt it can get any worse. All i know pretty much comes off of the web since i sleep through school smearing shit on paper and getting high marks. Other kids that try hard in school get lower grades and are dumb asses to compare. I think this concept is rather self explanatory as to why unschooling would work better.

I never said it is impossible to learn stuff by yourself, but it is usually a rare occuranca that someone really excells at teaching stuff to himself.

What about unschooling, The proven ideal of leaving kids to their own devices so they will take up teaching themselves and learn their own opinions and not allow others to tell them what their opinions are such as what i see everyday at school which includes constant brainwashing.

"My reasons for homeschooling are to take responsibility for my kids education, to instill our family's morals and values..."

    - i always become a little uneasy when i hear about people who are homeschooling their kids for 'ideological reasons'. It makes me think of children being adopted into Amish communities and how their futures will be completely sabotaged.

I was home-schooled in high school. I chose to be home-schooled. I hated high school. I was miserable. I came home crying almost every day because I was alone, even though I made effort to make friends and bond with my peers. I was an average student. A little quiet, but friendly. I joined art clubs, "safety patrol" (yeah it still exists in some schools), and drama. Still, I was always left all alone, like I was invisible. Majority of society rejected me so I said f you, bye! Never been happier.

My question is why don't people pay attention when the exact same results are coming out of public schools? It's been over 13 years since there was a kid on my block who wasn't working at least 3 grade levels below where they are, who could actually do math in their head or with pencil and paper instead of depending on a calculator for every little equation, and who could read well enough to fill out a job application without adults helping them, and those are all public school kids.
