Interestingly, pianist Sanford Schlussel played for my father's New York City debut recital in 1938.My father told me Schlussel was neither accurate not a very sensitive colleague. But Enescu thought he was the best, so?

This is great! The only version that doesn't rush through everything!!

Thanks for sharing! Make me understand much better where Neveu, Menuhin and Ferras came from, and why they said that their maestro is the most sensitive violinist at heart.

Heart-rending would be an understatement...

the "crackly" recording adds an extra dimension to this excellent rendition

This recording is an exquisite example of a real artist making sense of an enigmatic work. Compelling and brilliant as well. Thank you, Mr. Enescu.
