Oh good grief that is exactly the sound coming out of my pond. I have tried to figure it out for days since I moved in here two weeks ago. I have listened to every single toad and frog sound that I could find online. I didn't recognize any of them until I heard this recording of this alligator.
I have a smaller pond with a lot of bull rushes so a lot of cover for this thing to hide in.
I have two small dogs, how can I find out for sure?

I need to do this, too. Go out at night with a flashlight. The eyes of the alligator will shine red, I think. They are very bright under a flashlight. (I've just seen it on tv.)
There's a truck I see around town that has advertising on the side that says Critter Catcher, I think. It's a nuisance wildlife remover.
