How to test a Toyota Prius Battery. Detailing the car for sale. Should you buy a Prius? Do you want 2 $5000 power sources? Do you want to be a toxic Federal Felon when it fails and you replace it? Is all of this technology REALLY necessary? How much pollution was created when creating this "Safe Clean" Rube Goldberg device? We are being saddled up with Extremely complicated technology devices to simply move from point A to point B. My Geo Metro Always runs.

  • Dude! what you need is a ford 250 4x4 for the area where you at, not a city vehicle. I can see some cows roaming around there...lol

  • @Pepsimaniaco Hey, I have a 2wd Ford F250, my son, not here, has 4x4 250, obth diesel of course! and I have a 1984 one ton Chevy dually-454, what a buffalo, but it works.... And forget the Prius. For gods sake, all we are doing is driving a car. Who needs a battery costing as much as an engine and wearing out much sooner. It should be classified as a terrorist weapon:: The switches in it could be used to set off sophisticated bombs..... really.

  • you have no idea what you are talking about or doing. these DIY Cars unless you have proper training

  • @XbusterhymenX anyone can test a battery. If it confuses you move on. These cars are Rube Goldberg devices. They are only cars. We are being fed mouthfuls of shit in the form of yuppie white liberal guilt so we will buy these things and save the environment. The Prius is the summation of all the technology pollution in industrial history. It needs to be taxed for its sins, not my Geo and diesel truck

  • First of all you can replace battery blocks individually. Not replace the whole battery because a few blocks are bad. The manufacturer of the battery suggest replacing blocks from known good used batteries. Secondly if you have 0 or low voltage across the blocks they could be in a state of discharge its when you have voltage over the rated spec ( so higher then normal charge) did you do a conductance test across your terminals on each block. Unless you know what you are doing DONT.

  • @XbusterhymenX Thanks, I know all that. The battery was bod. The one I bought off ebay was bad. I had to tow the car to the dealer to confirm what I knew. Thats was my only hope of getting a replacement. So, the dealer confirmed the 2d bad battery. Luckily I found someone that would take the 2 giant nicads out of my life. Whew, no one wants those things....

  • @lusciousgarage Thanks. I'm trying to go back to "9 wire technology", the pre-70's cars and trucks. I love "48-52 era Chevy pu... the problem is getting 30 mpg.I do have a 550hp 350chevy out of my 1959 vette. but it's 6-12mpg. It needs a Camero See "Last Fremont Drag ". My Geo Metro is reliable and gets 45+mpg and is pretty straight forward. I might be able to tolerate a throttle body fi.....and thanks.

  • I just love this video so much. The cows, the poor prius with problems. It's human! That's why I like it. IExpose: thanks for giving this car a good shake. Next time I can't fix an old pickup I'm going to tip my hat in your direction in respect.

  • On an old car, the usual problems are starter motor, alternator, belts, clutch, gear shifter, air con compressor seal - Prius doesn't have any of this to go wrong - so buy a new battery and enjoy another 130 to 300km of trouble free driving!
