After Helen Byrne fought for a diagnosis of autism for her son Mikey she expected this would be a pathway to interventions that would help Mikey, but she found there was little on offer. She felt Mikey really needed to be motivated to learn because he was just happy living in his own bubble. Helen choose Applied Behaviour Analysis as it broke down skills into to small steps and that it worked on motivating the child to learn.
