The heroic Rebel Alliance has been resisting for nearly eighteen years, but with overwhelming numbers and technological superiority, the forces of Emperor Palpatine have always destroyed any major attacks against Imperial Worlds.

A major break came when Incom Corporation, instructed to design the newest and most superior starfighter in history, secretly offered the plans to Rebel Commander Mon Mothma. Jumping at this rare opportunity, she dispatches all available warships to retrieve this 'X-Wing' fighter - all five Correlian Corvettes.

Commanding them is the rebel hero Raymus Antilles, from the 'Sundered Heart', a specialy modified assault corvette, and with stealth and tactics, it should be a breeze.

Then long-range sensors spotted the massive radar signature of the ISS Tyrany over Fresia, and things got complicated.

I think another factor is the gas canisters, the SD came out close to a group of them and somtimes when I watch that scene I can see wreckage from the base float by, would have been blown up as well

The SD probably wasn't expecting to get any action, it had just hypered in, and these were like the elites of the Rebel Alliance. Plus plot convenience.
