  • Nice stuff Anthony

I don't imagine you intended this in your ears ... I hear shades of nothing Compares 2 U ... I'm just imagining you ripping in to some cool Prince tracks ... or vice versa .. .Prince ripping in to this BT and playing some majesterial lead ...

you ever tried Purple Rain or such like?

and have you ever seen his solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Hall of Fame show?

Saw it just last week - wow.

  • @MrClose2u I have never knowingly played like Prince, although he is an awesome player.

  • Is the backing track available anwhere so we could jam along? ;)

  • @bluesdog88 Check the second link in the description.

  • graet playing Anthony, thanks for all your posts. Have a maintenance question..my srv('94) the brass is rusted real bad. Any good cleaner you reccomend to clean it up? Tuning pegs are fine, just the trem piece and bridge. Any help appreciated. By the way... beautiful composition..

  • @stangswang1 That is something I don't know.

  • Complete awsomeness!!

  • Awsome work my friend!! I watched the critiqing vid and I must say even though you did make some mistakes I would have never noticed in amongst all the other awsomeness!!! In a since I feel if there is no mistakes at all than it feels way to fake. It loses the human element that makes music so awsome. It's really cool that you can take a mistake and make work so well. Keep it up bro I an't get enough!!! \m/

  • @ptolon totally agrree to that - I would by this lesson as well !!!

  • @gr8bluesgtr incredible tone & technique, not to mention the way you phrase your licks. wow. can I ask what equipment you use to record/sync the guitar with the backing track & such? Thanks, can't get enough of your videos

  • you should do a Christmas ballad :)

  • lol i already commented but damn i just wanted to say 3:25-3:37 melt my heart. sometimes i think of you as a sloppy player cuz you're criticize yourself/point out flaws and don't fully edit videos, but man when you actually choose to record yourself legit you play with so much blues soul that it really emotionally connects...and that's what blues is all about man. those sweet bends and vibratos almost jerk my tears.

  • Anthony, excellent playing. On those sort of sweet-sounding upward vibratos that you apply on the lower strings (B/E), it looks like you're not anchoring anything but your finger a la Clapton (and also Stevie at times). Is this an accurate assessment?

  • This is the kinda stuff I feel like I am moving toward, love the mixing of major and minor, I just dont really know when to do that? Pretty much not on the C#m or what? Are those major chords in the background, or just E5 A5 B5s, dom 7ths?etc? I wanna start knowing how to mix the maj/min stuff more but u have to be selective right?

  • Fantastic improvisation!

  • While We Cry is the same chord progression than Yellow Ledbetter

  • @thiorend i believe he is tuned down a half step. but if youre playing in standard itll sound a little different. the chords are as follows

    e major (with some variations)

    b major

    c#minor

    and an a major

  • Great Job! I loved 4:43 to about 5:03 of the ballad. You created a build that really caught my ear. That part really moved the song forward, and was my favorite part of the performance. Your critique was also insightful.

  • that was fucking amazing man, i really enjoy your lessons and your a great guitar player, im working my way up to becoming better and better and your a great insipiration.

  • Excellent

  • EXCELENT!! I WAS WONDERING IF YOU CAN TEACH THAT KIND OF SLOW LICKS

  • I LOVE THIS..

  • great blues guitar!

  • WooHoo inspirational, thanks a million Anthony!!!

  • Great tone and feel Anthony. Thank you for sharing. Is the chord progression or tab available for this?

  • Anthony, it feels to me from this video and others than I've seen that you are much more comfortable with licks you've learned than with improv. I'm not trying to say it wasn't good by any means, but in comparison with a lot of your lessons this seemed a bit off... Either way, keep teaching the world, we need more popularizers of the blues!

    Adam

  • Damn awesome! You should sell the tab to that as a lesson. nothing else needed as the video is already there. I'm sure lots of other peeps would gladly pay as I would. Just a thought!

  • @stangswang1 Hey man, there is a John Cruz maintenance video on Youtube where he is in the Fender Custom Shop showing you how to clean rust off of your guitar bridge. If you search for John Cruz you should be able to find it, I think the cleaning product is made by Rene Martinez, SRV's and John Mayer's guitar tech.

  • I can hear a lot of similarities to John Mayer's playing as well. He obviously also draws from SRV. Beautiful piece!

  • I guess Kenny ripped this from Pearl Jam - yellow ledbetter

  • soooo good.. i can feel srv from your playing
