After that election, Giuliani had a lot of groveling to do in Albany with a new Republican governor in office who owed him nothing and who drew very little support from New Yok City in the 1994 race.

Cuomo's alleged "accountant tricks" and Spitzer's plan have nothing to do with the fact that Spitzer won the election with almost 70% of the vote. It was a historic thumping for the state GOP, and it was completely due to Pataki. Speaking of accounting tricks, I wonder what happened to all the money that was wasted on Pataki's pet project. Google "Pataki" and "Museum of Women" to see what I mean.

Oh, I suppose thats why Cuomo nearly bankrupted the state and used accountant tricks like selling prisons to the Port Authority to balance the budget. And Spitzer giving drivers licenses to illegal trespassers [immigrants], brilliant . Spitzer will soon be joining Cuome on the dung heap of history

Are you HIGH? George Pataki was one of the singular WORST GOVERNORS in the history of New York State. Whether you were conservative or liberal there is no question that the man was a political hack of the highest order with delusional aspirations for the Presidency.

Rudy Giulaini is one of the few Republicans who can make George Pataki seem like an right winger.

Pataki was one of New Yorks better governors.

Cuomo had his good and bad points as a Governor, but Pataki was a D'Amato lackey. Rudy made a deal for the city. Wouldn't read too much into it.

text97, you're obviously not from New York. If you were here, you would have noticed that the state Republican party has virtually ceased to exist, in large part because of Pataki and his cronyism. It's not a coincidence that the last Republican to win state-wide office in the state was Gov. George himself more than 4 years ago. If you think Spitzer's sweep and the dominance of the Democratic party has nothing to do with Pataki, you're living in a fantasy world.
