Heron vs Crow Flock

I don't think I scared the Heron, I'd been videoing him for ten minutes and he didn't move away. He definitely took off in the wrong direction. I don't know if any camera can capture the indepth image of a large crow flock. The video only shows about 10% of the flock the Heron was flying toward. That was the West Vancouver flock, the Vancouver flock was already there waiting for them. The south Van flocks joins them at Gilmore, from the south-west.
Some places in the world have million bird flocks. Considering the population of crows increases every year we will eventually reach that number. The hazards of urban life only serve to weed out the week, slow, and stupid. Each crow pair reproduces themselves every year. I'm not sure how long they live or for how many years a female lays eggs. Those numbers are needed to determine how fast the flock is growing. More later.

Odd place for a heron stay for so long? they usually hide amongst the reeds don't they?

There aren't any reeds along that section of the creek. The heron was being harassed by crows but they had given up before I got my camera out. He sat still for so long I decided to film the crows taking baths.

I'm amazed that as I turned to film him again, he took off as I zoomed in, then inadvertently flew right into the middle of the West Van Crow flock. Then some air rage ensued.

I can get birds, bears, even insects, to perform in my videos, but not humans.
