I will be discussing the basics of quantum gravity, why it is necessary, and two prominent quantum gravitational theories. In the next video I will apply these theories to cosmology to see how we can clear up the Planck-Era "question mark".

  • Another wonderful video. Great work. Your honesty is an excellent trait, too many people pretend to be experts when in fact they are not.

  • I think pretending to be an expert on quantum gravity would be nearly impossible for 99% of youtubers. I could only barely understand some of the terms (i.e. diffeomorphism) because I've only recently taken a class on abstract algebra, a senior-level math course!

I prefer to not get caught with my pants down, so honesty is the best policy :)

  • Thanks for the educational video! Keep up the good work!

Oh, and it's awesome you include resources!

    Thanks!

    xoxo

  • So you understood the video? I was worried that this one was going to be over a lot of peoples' heads, the subject is far from simple!

I am just hoping the resources will help provide a fuller picture.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Real scientists aren't afraid of saying "I don't know" or "I'm confused".

When I hear stuff like that, it elevates my trust and respect.

  • So Big Bang states that at one point in time and space, all matter and energy in the universe was super ultra concentrated into a perfect point, a singularity. Which would actually be absolute and beyond or outside space and time. Is this correct?

So that singularity would have to contain all possible worlds, all possibilities. Everything we see in the world, including ourselves, would have to have already been conceived of and accounted for. Is this right?

  • sounds like you are laboring over something you are reading or reciting. try to sound a little more awake I guess. what he hay.

  • Brian Greene Rules! I can't wait to read his new book, then I'm going to one of his lectures in march. Great video by the way!

  • Michio Kaku's book Parallel Worlds: A Journey Through Creation, Higher Dimensions, and the Future of the Cosmos. Is the book I started to read that started me out on the path of astrophysics. I highly recommend it. It covers quantum gravity and has an excellent string theory explanation, but tends to skim over some more in-depth portions of quantum gravity.. But, because of Parallel World's I was able to follow most of this video.

  • enjoyed the videos man. looking forward to the next series.

  • I pretend to be an expert. but only as a learner not as a teacher :P

  • I think I understood the video ;-)

Some of the big educational video channels on youtube have some cool graphs/ diagrams, but I'd like to see how you would make graphics for that video, haha!

Anyway, it's hard to find stuff that actually goes in-depth on YouTube, that isn't dummied down!
