Well, here it is, the hydraulic elevator at Welch Hall.

Original Elevator Specs:
General-Otis/Geared Traction.
Performance-2500 Lbs/10 HP.
Distance-50 feet/5 floors & 150 FPM.
Year-Installed/1929.

Modernized Elevator Specs:
General-Dover/Inground Hydraulic.
Performance-2500 Lbs/25 HP.

  • I guess that's how they designed the elevators in this building.

  • Yes, but on levels 3, 4, & 5, since level 1 is locked off.

  • Well, they typically use white/red illumination, and have the tendency to sound when the door opens.
