August 2011: Detroit, MI: "When it comes to rebuilding a city, you have to know your past before you can see your future. This is the Motor City, and we are coming back. Watch us. We're about to put Detroit in Overdrive."

"Detroit in Overdrive" is a stunning three-part mini series which depicts the rebirth of an American city that has been devastated by adverse economic conditions - ranging from a loss of jobs and businesses to crumbling schools and infrastructure. The series premieres on Thursday, August 4, 2011 on Planet Green.

We see students studying advanced automotive technology and robotics, to home-grown rock star Kid Rock opening a local beer brewery, to a street artist paving a road with old, discarded shoes and much more.

Acclaimed film director, writer, producer Michael Selditch affords viewers a multi-faceted, in-depth look at some of the die-hard Detroit-ers who are restoring this once thriving metropolis. It is the story of a diverse citizenry working together to overcome tremendous odds to rebuild their cherished Motor City - and create a 21st Century Detroit.

"Detroit In Overdrive" is a case study which offers Americans a close look at the dynamic individuals who are tackling issues -- both big and small -- and working together to re-establish a community that has slowly fallen apart. • Venice Beach, CA is more violent than Detroit.

  • Detroit is what happens when you keep reelecting democrats and their union buddies

  • Every big sucessful city is dirty and currupt and full of crime... name one that isn't. Detroit at this point IS a blank slate and gives tons of oppotunity and better chances for those with creative ambition then most of those other big citys. There's more room and less judgment, within the city anyway. Yay Detroit! over come the negativity and do as much good as possible.

  • i have high hopes for Detroit my Mom and Grandparents are from there, at one time it was a good place to live. I still have family there we haven't been for a visit in 20yrs now. good for Robert James Richie "kid rock" sticking to his roots :)

  • @mannythegreek100 Sorry manny but I have done 3 tours in Iraq and am currently working on other projects for the government so I am a little busy. I can't wait to see the work you do to make Detroit better.

  • @aewald1 At least people are coming together to turn it around rather than complaining about it. What are you doing to make the city a better place?
