In this video Mark starts Pistol under saddle. Pistol is a 3 year old cow horse bred filly. Mark is using another colt with only 30 days under saddle to snub off of.

I guess I don't know who is who on this YouTube stuff. But "whoever" was complaining about that little hand to the face issue is No Hand with a horse. This guy is a top hand from what I can see. Simple, safe, quiet horse handling with full purpose step by step instruction and communication. Go Dude... So WHO was complaining?

  • i luv the way ur starting all of these colts but the one thing i would change is just from the very beginning the rider gibes the cues but i wasnt there and your colts seem to turn out great thats just on thing i would change

  • @gcoxalaska she's bitching about 2:11 through to 2:23.

I watched this video a couple of times and can't find the notorious slap in the face. Can you pin point it for me? My initial observation is this guy is a real Hand with a horse and IF he did slap at the horses face it was probably an isolated incident. He looks the type that would want to perform 100% positive reinforcement on a horse. He looked good to me. I'd be curious if you have any horse clips on YouTube for us all to watch? (and critique if necessary)

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack well, in my opinion it looks like he put his hand up to tell him to stop, and to keep him from running into him (a hand up at their eye can help keep them from running over you whilst sacking out), and when the horse flinched away from him he continued 'slapping' his hand at his face to show him not to flinch from it. I do the same thing with my horse; sometimes he gets a bit flinchy and headshy and I just need to remind him I'm not going to hit him. :)

  • @LadyLuxish I'm no longer in the mood to argue with an idiot, so whatever. Goodbye.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack Yeah, that cowboy's payin' attention.

  • @LadyLuxish Didn't look it to me. Looks to me like he just started hitting the horse in the face for no reason. Think what you want. The video's clear.
