More than 100 people carried a 600-foot rope about 20 miles Saturday and Sunday, as a reenactment of the American cable carry following the Battle of Big Sandy Creek up to Sackets Harbor, a major American shipbuilding point. The cable was used to finish construction of the USS Superior, which bolstered America's strength on Lake Ontario.
