It is imperative that you read this summary:

My response to Penn and Teller Bullshit and the areas that this show failed to cover.

Two papers on the feasibility of the Rail Gun, both published in the IEEE, the first from 1982, and the second from 2003:

http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/freeabs_all.jsp?arnumber=1061791

and

http://research.lifeboat.com/ieee.em.pdf

Interestingly, Nasa has already contracted a company to solve the problems mentioned and build a railgun for them. You can find out more about it here:

Here's the wikipedia article on closed ecosystems, with links to other wikipedia articles on work already done, and those articles have references and external links to the scientific site which have better info about these projects. A considerable amount of funding needs to be put into developing better closed ecosystems for space travel:

Finally, the home page of the Cosmocratic movement, and why space colonization is a necessity. References are on the second post:

  • What are you aiming for exactly Harry? You are a smart human being why don't you get a job doing research for the show to make it better instead of pointing out all the mistakes they make? also..magician? How uhm about uhm uhm making those uhm uhms disappear from your uhm ah video uhm?

  • Firstly, in terms of research, read the links I posted in the summary and the references they provide. Secondly, I have Asperger's Syndrome, and as my mouth is trying to keep up with my brain, I will stutter every now and again.

  • Your a smart guy and you make some good points but you really need to work on your speaking skills because it's hard to follow you somtimes when ever 3rd or 4th word is um. Other then that keep up the vids!

P.S. Not tying to be mean just giving you some advice that you probably already heard.

  • Thanks for the criticism. I'll work on that.

  • I am a huge pen and teller fan! and! I agree with you you see that episode pen requested to do personally cause he believed in it he wanted to do a show about somthing he believes in.

  • We should've stayed with Apollo. We had a tried and trusted design to get us to the moon and back, and even had plans to expand upon it including missions to Mars as early as the 1980s. Not to mention expendable rockets were cheaper and more capable in the long run (as the Russians have proved with the Soyuz). The shuttle was picked not just for "cheaper" means of space travel, but also as a means of military capabilities.

  • @aikiboy1111111 ...I think it's cute *shrugs*

  • ...then again..it's not like I could tell you that if I didn't have a computer, your mind is closed.

  • Technological society should grind to a halt, if you look into everything further enough I think you'll see (well..I haven't but I have a feeling) that many of the Earth's BIGGEST problems came from those very 'technological' "advances" ..it's best that they're gone.

  • ....why would you want to send your body into space on a space ship when you can astral travel and meditate and go there anyway....? If you didn't trouble your mind with all of this you could quiet it down..I think you've got a brilliant mind under there...<3

  • aikiboy. Your sort of like a Jeff Goldblum. It's my most sincere complement. Brilliant. Keep up the good work!

  • I can't find the nasa episode on you tube and I don't have showtime, but it seems I would dissagree with them too. Our population is really going to jump by 2050, so we will have to start thinking about agriculture, subteranean cities, and space.

  • @typeconfusion I am pretty sure he is trying to make it better by trying to convince the tax payers that we need to start investing in interplanetary colonization, because the general populace who are tax payers that fund these projects need to be convinced because if the tax payers are not behind it then it will not work.. I think his attempts are ineffective however, but at least he is trying.

  • I agree that it is essential that the human race colonize the rest of the solar system and even move out to other stars but I do not believe the human race has a future in space colonization for one reason. It is outside of our Monkeysphere, just like using up all the planet's resources and trashing everything is because we do not care for people outside of our Monkeysphere (this includes our own descendants) but also don't care enough to find more resources and protect ourselves from disaster.
