Selena Introduces Crayons By Matthew Woolfrey

So, we have the honer of introducing a special song by a new friend Matthew Woolfrey called "Crayons". In life, I am inspired by all types of people places and events in my day to day life. Its nice to know that my family can inspire someone as talented as Matthew.

I discovered amazing channel on which he and his partner share their views as openly gay parents on a number of various topics. I fell in love pretty instantly with their amazing family and felt very inspired when Jay continued to explain that there is a film being made about his family and the contest was back in February for music to use in the film.

I couldn't stop this song from coming out after surfing (& subscribing to, as you all should) their awesome and very loving positive and sometimes bravely honest channel about what it is like to be a gay family in America. This morning I finished recording the song and emailed it to Jay. I then found out about Bryan's (and Jay's) close friend recently committing suicide.

It is crazy how sometimes in just a couple of days you can feel such a powerful sense of purpose in meeting someone. With the issues I've been facing (and my sister) with our family being such a hinderance to our happiness and freedom to be the people that we are, I feel very strongly that this song was a testament not only to Jay and Bryan or to their friend who has passed, but it's a humble and genuine crumb of a message to all those who suffer any persecution whatsoever for being in any way "different" or as I like to call it, "extraordinary."

There's a line in the film "Phoebe in Wonderland" where Patricia Clarkson's amazing Theater Teacher character comforts a young girl struggling with the realization that she has Tourette syndrome: "At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals. And you will say to yourself, "But I am this person." And in that statement, that correction, there will be a kind of love."

Jay - When you first posted your video about this guy, I immediately subscribed. This man has incredible talent. I've started playing this song (and a couple others) instead of practicing my classical piano - hopefully it doesn't show at my performance next week. Its a great song though.

Whilst listening it reminded me of a song I heard back in 2008 called 'The Minnow & The Trout' by A Fine Frenzy. I think it's the song meaning, but they're both beautiful.
