@slybrdsngjr LOL probably not. I live in California, so that complicates things to say the least. My interest in horn shows, names, all that stuff went down the drain quite a while ago too. I pretty much don't railfan these days either, so I'm not likely to be meeting any crews any time soon.

@EWM27 Hopefully one day theyll stop for you and you could get names. You'll really get shows more often.

@slybrdsngjr Yeah, I can tell you we were neither in a work zone nor did we look like workers, unless flip flops & shorts count... lol. Both the crewmen waved to us, and when we saw them come back through a few days later, the engineer did a similar horn pattern and waved out the window to us. Just a nice guy I guess.

@crazyrailfan seems to me that good crew was doing excessive short notes because in the GCOR rule book, men or equipment on or near the track, they have to do excessive short notes until the front end completely passes the *worker or equipment*, either hes in a work zone, or he looked like a worker. :)

I've seen that C&NW unit on coal drags running up the Sharon Springs/Salina subs numerous times. See them a lot on the Colorado coal runs.
