Although its nearly impossible to ruin tenderloin (it was surely still delicious), there are some plain mistakes in the cooks craftmanship.
He wants the pan searing hot - why does he throw cold butter in there, and places the meat directly on the unmolten butter? Butter isn't the right fat for searing. No butter if it needs to be real hot, butter burns.
And its babbling, that tenderloin needs to be rare. It simply doesn't. Its the meat, where you have the widest choice of good conditions...
