Château Saint-Victor-la-Coste (known to villagers as "the château) is situated on a quiet little square next to the village church, which dates to the 17th century. Saint-Victor-la-Coste is a pretty little village with basic shops in the rich agricultural region west of the Rhône River and northwest of Avignon. The village is largely surrounded by vineyards that are highly regarded for their quality wines. Tavel, especially famous for its red and rosé wines, is 11 km to the southeast.
The property. The property at Château Saint-Victor-la-Coste consists of three structures: the château, the pavilion and the annex. Altogether these structures comprise 800 m2 (8,611 sq. ft.) of living space and a total of eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two kitchens and three terraces. Because of its size and sumptuous furnishings the property can be enjoyed in a wide number of ways, including a wedding reception for up to 400 guests.

The château. The principal entrance to the property is into the château (a second door opens onto the swimming pool area). A magnificent stone staircase, its steps worn over the centuries, leads from the entrance hall to the middle level of the three-level château. A spacious landing at the top of the stairs lies between the main salon and the dining room.
The enormous main salon is a spectacular room. One long side of the rectangular room is comprised of glass doors opening onto a terrace that stretches along the entire north façade of the château. The terrace offers views of the Rhône Valley to the horizon. Equally breathtaking is the dining room, which has a massive fireplace and a terrace that overlooks the swimming pool toward the pavilion and annex.
Also on this level is the spacious country-style kitchen, beyond which lies a small garden area suitable for enjoying breakfast.
On the uppermost level of the château, reached by another beautiful stone staircase, are three bedrooms. Both have huge, well-illuminated ensuite bathrooms with stall showers; one bathroom also has a deep, oversized bathtub. The master bedroom has a private terrace that overlooks the pool.
On the ground floor is a pleasant sitting and dining area that gives onto the pool area through huge double glass doors. With these doors open, as they normally are in the summer months, the château, pavilion, annex and pool are integrated into one bright, open and airy space.
Pavilion. The pavilion, an old stone structure reached by a small set of stone stairs, contains an enormous bedroom and a spacious full bathroom. The high ceilings have original beams.
Annex. Like the pavilion, the annex is an old stone structure that has been beautifully renovated. The annex has two levels, with each level reached by a separate path. Each level is laid out exactly the same: two bedrooms, with a full bathroom in between.
Location. Saint-Victor-la-Coste is well located for exploring the many faces of Provence. Avignon is less than half an hour to the south. The villages of the Lubéron are a few minutes further to the east. And the Vaucluse Plateau - home to a string of lovely villages and sites of Roman ruins such as Vaison-la-Romaine and Orange - is less than an hour to the northeast. Despite its feeling of peacefulness and tranquillity, the village is only 15 minutes from an Autoroute interchange, which brings Cavaillon and the villages south of Avignon, such as Saint-Rémy, Les Baux and Maussane-les-Alpilles, within easy striking distance. Arles, Tarascon and Aix-en-Provence are also accessible in an hour or less, with Saint-Tropez and the Côte d'Azur one or two hours beyond.
