He's talking about Generation Kill, his character was from the midwest.

When you think about it though, he doesn't have a Midwest accent (if you're talking about True Blood) his character is old and from Europe, so they didn't make him use an accent, it's just the typical Skarsgard accent, as i say (he sounds SO much like his father!)
Except for that one episode in season 2 when he tries to get Sookie out of the church and uses the accent to trick the people for like 3 minutes.

He sounds totally different when he speaks this language. His voice pitch is a little different.
