@intheden many bands 'rush' songs when playing gigs, maybe because the original tempo doesn't suit the overall atmosphere that they are trying to create. The song's position in the set list may have a bearing, also the band will probably be hyped-up for the performance and possibly feeling the effects of adrenaline. Or something similar.

Well, it is Dulli's song. So he can play it at any tempo he wishes to play it at.

I think Dulli wants the live version to rock more. The song is moodier on Blackberry Belle. Dulli always had When We Two Parted rock more during his Whigs days. That is originally a slow song.

okay, I stand corrected three or four times - but you didn't address my point - why does he rush this song when he plays it live - the mood of the song is so different on BB - treat me lightly, I'm not the Whigs expert you are

Best song? Everything on the Gentlemen album is better. Esta Noche isn't even the best song on Blackberry Belle. For the record: 66 is Dulli's best song live.
