Frank was one odd duck - he was absolutely dead-serious about the wacky, the silly, and the absurdly insane juxtapositioned against some amazingly creative music. And when he solos, just look at how into it he really is. You can't name another rock-era composer nearly as prolific in recordings and compositions. He was truly obsessed with what he did, yet never seemed to be too happy a guy. A tortured genius was Frank!

"Montana," released summer of '73, my wife and I were off the grid, working in Yellowstone Park, right outside Gardiner, Montana. I'd never heard the song. We bought a '55 Buick... with Montana plates, of course....
Went back to Michigan... My cousin, John, a big Zappa fan, fell over laughing when we drove up.
John, gasping for air: "Wait'll I tell... har de har har, everyone, tee hee hee, my cousin's, snark snark snort, a dental floss tycoon!"
Me: "Wha? What's so funny?"

Because Frank Zappa died of prostate cancer ... and maybe it might get people to ask questions and think about maybe getting checked out themselves ... thanks
