Slater Barron shows both sides of her personality and art concepts in "Life Cycles" her solo exhibit at the Barbara and Ray Alpert Community Center in Long Beach.
Several examples of her light hearted lint food sculptures including candy boxes and sushi platters will tempt your appetite, or not. She also shows her serious collages with poetry overlays about other patients in the hospital where her parents were confined because of Alzheimer's disease.
The art can be viewed through June 30. There will be a reception open to the public on June 18 from 6:30-8:30PM when Slater will read from her book, "Remembering the Forgetting" about the art she made to help her cope with the Alzheimer's experience.
