@newscaster13 Actually KOVR became an affiliate in 1995 and was owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. They were bought by CBS in 2004 and the deal was finalized in May 2005.

@ASKconard It's not just KTVT and KOVR sharing the same theme music. Both stations would become CBS O&O stations in 1995. One difference is KTVT was an independent, and KOVR was an ABC affiliate (not sure of KOVR's owner at the time)

@graphichris I knew he ended up in St. Louis because about a decade or so ago I came across his name in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (he was at another STL station at the time). Later on I became acquainted with a former KOVR photographer, who basically told me Dan was replaced because he was intelligent, and KOVR was trying to dumb down the news.

@graphichris KTVT also used the theme. Almost sounds like Shelly Palmer or John Hegner.

They actually showed the dead bodies! Gotta love old-school KOVR 13 News. Dan Gray was the main guy for years, then he just completely disappeared. Such as it is in local TV news.
