This is an idea about how to reduce crime in America. It can be explained in 5 points.

1) Young, low-income men commit more crime than any other group of people in America.
2) Would-be criminals are less likely to commit crimes when they have access to well-paying jobs.
3) There's a public policy weapon - one that already exists and has been very successful - that effectively improves access to well-paying jobs. It's called the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, and it lifts low-income working people out of poverty without penalizing work.
4) Americans under age 25 - those most likely to commit crimes - are currently not allowed to claim the EITC, unless they have kids.
5) We should tell Congress to lower the EITC's age minimum so those most likely to commit crimes can find well-paying jobs instead.

Please tell your Senators or Representative; their contact info is at www.congress.org.

  • to reduce crime put more cops in heavily populated black areas

  • no more eitc welfare please

  • min wage just causes unemployment in the very people you want to help

min wage is partly why these young people have no jobs(labor surplus = "unemployment")

  • How about just increasing the minimum wage?
