Based on true story

In 1968, 31 North Korean soldiers infiltrated South Korea, but failed in their mission. When one was captured alive and interrogated as to what the mission was, he declared: "To slit the throat of (South Korean President) Park Chung-hee."

In retaliation, South Korean intelligence formed their own 31-man team to return the favor: infiltrate North Korea and slit the throat of its President Kim Il-Sung.

Unit 684 was thus formed, but they were not soldiers. Not even upstanding citizens.

They were death-row convicts. Criminals. Hailing from society's gutters. Human trash. While everyone thought they had been executed, they were all shipped to the remote island of Silmido where, for three agonizing years, they were exposed to everything: isolation, loneliness and dehumanizing training.

Soon an unlikely bond formed among them, and with their supervising soldiers (It was a one-on-one training arrangement).

They were given a new lease of life. Train, become soldiers, be legit for once in their miserable lives, then go to Pyongyang, and earn their freedom and identity by slitting Kim Il-sung's throat. Pyongyang. That way lies freedom.

Among them is a young man Kang In-chan, whose motivation lies deeper for, in Pyongyang awaits his father who brought shame to him and his mother when he defected to the North, leaving both wife and son ridiculed as 'Communists'. Kin Il-Sung's throat is not the only one he wants gutted.

Soon these human trash become soldiers, developing honor along the way, and respect for each other. But in those three years, relations between the two countries have changed, and to their horror, they have now turned into liabilities more than assets. Soon their own government - the nation they are sworn to give their lives for - turns its own back on them. The mission has been changed: Erase Unit 684. Erase Silmido.

President Park Chung Hee who mistaken in life, ask you how soldier can believe the gov. they are die for looking new life in the land for them believe a free dom, they can die for safe south korea in war, event they are not kill civilian but there commander said dont worry. i'm so sad, they're sould not die like that.....

President Park Chung Hee was the best president of our country , yet it was his BIGGEST MISTAKE IN LIFE NOT to deploy Unit 684 against Kim IL Sung . If he did it, these guys would have definitely succeeded in their mission. Unit 684 MANSE !!
