When this album was released, it was my first real view into the New World of Fusion....and damn, I liked the view! Beck was one of the mainstream pioneers in this field and Blow By Blow remains one of the best examples to this day.

I agree with you on some level, but your phrasing is completely incorrect. "This couldn't be farther from fusion." So your saying that Tchaikovsky's March Slave is closer to fusion than this? Or maybe Stormy Monday is closer to fusion than this?
There is much playing based on the blues scale, but is this blues? Is it rock? What is it? Whatever you say about the scales, this is still closer to fusion than it is to strict rock, blues, or jazz.
PS- I can't listen to AH whatever you call him!
