Ladies and gentlemen my name is John Burnap. I am here to talk to you today about the supernote controversy, formerly known as the supernote experiment. Many of you have been questioning whether some of the top supernotes should be considered notes at all. Although it is true that these creaky voices are produced by the vocal cords, they are of such low frequency that they begin to be perceived of as a series of beats rather than a continuous note. The lowest of the creaky voices is at around 20 beats per second. Although this is at the very bottom range of what a human would consider a note, there is no specific frequency at which that happens. But truly, the definition of a note is not the problem here. The problem is the definition of a supernote. You see, due to an unfortunate oversight, the rules do not specify a frequency range. Because of this oversight, the creaky voices are indeed supernotes. But just remember, your right! These are not notes,
theyre supernotes!

  • i consider anything i hear to be fake, question it, interrogate it, investigate it, prosecute it, then validate that it is indeed fake and all in my head.(:

  • A Octo-contra bass clarinet can go as low as this.

  • the vibartations at 20 beats per second though aren't notes at 20 hz. they don't follow a wave pattern or superpositon of waves. if you speed up the frequencies to 4x the original a note of 80 hz is not produced, it's just a pulsing.

  • OMFJ, did they have to show the video at 0:20? DX

  • "Ladies and Gentlemen" this is Mambo Number 5. I thought he'd say that.

  • ooohh, thanks!! now I can die in peace.Fuck you!

  • Notes are signs for writing music and vocal chords can not produce signs... They produce tone... :)

  • Below about 30Hzs A0 your brain can individually resolve each vibration in the note as a separate tap , so the note essentially becomes a string of "beats", as opposed to an actual sound.

  • @KingMatteus Correct. The technical term is vocal fry. What this guy refers to as "notes" probably includes the modal register, falsetto, and maybe even whistle register.

  • some of them are not in 1 breath as they proport, however there is no way to prove it apart from cracks in the vocal line and the stomac moving outwards.
