why is jesus depicted as a white person in the mormon religion? and why is it in the BOM white people are seen as righteous and dark skinned people considered evil?

@ellimist6 Have you seen The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd? The Book of Mormon also describes how the "dark skinned" were often more righteous than those of "white" skin. As Mormons believe Christ was raised by Mary in Palestine 2000 years ago, He probably was darker in complexion than what is "traditional." The depictions are meant to be representations based on the artist, not photographs in drawing form.

Although LDS teach that we are all children of God, the Bible declares that we must become "children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" (John 1:12, Gal. 3:26). That is why Jesus said, "Ye must be born again" (John 3:7). The Bible teaches that those not born again are children of the devil (John 8:44, I John 3:10).

@GaryKColeman Mormonism teaches every person on this planet is a literal child of God. The Bible teaches that every person born on this planet, apart from Jesus Christ, R born children of wrath Ephesians 2:1-7 John 1:10-14 teaches God gives power 2 BECOME the children of God, 2 those who accept Christ. No person is a child of God unless they have been born again John 3. If a person is a child of God, they will never go 2 hell. Isaiah 43:10,11 & 44:6-8,24 make it clear no man will become a God.

1John 3:1-2 "...that we should be called the sons of God....now are we the sons of God...when He shall appear, we shall be like Him..."

Phil 3:20-21 "...we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ; Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body..."

Psalms 82:6 "I have said, ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."

@GaryKColeman Nearly every Mormon testimony contains the statement "I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet" though all evidence shows him a conman. The Mormon church cannot possibly B true, if Joseph Smith was a liar. He wrote the BOM, PGP & most of the D&C. He invented the idea of eternal marriage, baptisms for the dead, that "God" was once a man, that men can become gods etc. Mormons believe a man in heaven who became a god is their heavenly father, this belief is based on Josephs teachings.

Can you show any documentation that Joseph was "the real god of Mormonism?" I don't know of anyone in the LDS Church who considers him to be God.

If Joseph is a fraud, all of Mormonism is a fraud. I do not have to ignore anything. Jesus Christ and the Word of God is the truth. Truth has nothing to fear in examining all things. The only righteous man Who has ever lived on this planet is Jesus Christ, God in human flesh John 1:1-3,14 Romans 3:23 6:23 10:9,10 John 3:18,36.

You brand Joseph as a racist based on your interpretation of a few verses that "seem 2 indicate skin color changes from white 2 black..." Yet, you downplay or even ignore the enslavement, selected breeding, selling, & even lynching of a people because of their skin color. In doing so, you excuse those "righteous" Christians who dressed in white robes & hoods, & burned crosses on Sat nite, then on Sun "worshipped" before a "holy" cross. That was more than just racism.

So what did Dr. Palmer & those righteous Christians use to justify enslaving a whole race of people? They claimed that it was ok because blacks had no soul, so keeping them as slaves was doing them a favor. For 400 yrs they gave them a place to sleep, food to eat, & steady work. They could sit in their all-white churches shouting Alleluia, Praise the Lord, & Hosanna to His name & not feel any guilt. No racism there.
