International Orange Chorale sings the wonderful motet "Ave Maris Stella" from Six Latin Hymns, op. 40 by great Swedish organist and composer Otto Olsson (1879-1964) during their Spring 2008 concert at St Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco. Conductor: Paul Kim. Please visit www.iocsf.org for more about this wonderful group! Next concert is May 2, 2009, and as always, admission is free!
Ave, maris stella, Dei Mater alma, atque semper Virgo, felix caeli porta.
Translation: Hail, star of the sea, nurturing Mother of God, and ever Virgin, happy gate of Heaven.
Recorded with a Zoom H2, which you can see on a tall stand directly behind the conductor.
It's hard to believe the choir is able to sing this motet so fluidly while following such robotic conducting by yours truly - I am working diligently to correct this. Sorry for the video cuts - there was a problem with the video, so two short sections have been blacked out to keep the synchronization with the audio. You can hear this song again at Lilia's wedding! Congrats to Lilia.
This is a good group and a decent recording but it was a little marred by the first soprano's going flat each time they went to the high g. Overall a good balance. I love this piece and wish more professional groups would perform it.

Great performance on this piece, it's really easy for the Soprano 1s to over power this piece, y'all had an excellent blend :-)

I've worked with you for almost three years, and I've never noticed you being robotic. So there. Also, your face conducts with you, which is something this angle cannot convey.
Beautiful performance!
