Dorothy Ashby was great. I think she even played on a few songs on some of Stevie Wonder's albums. Today, who would ever think of making a harp sound cool? One of the many things I love about 60s and 70s music, is how they took instruments typically used for classical, and made it fun and accessible for the rest of us... without it being boring. Thom Bell (Philly sound) did wonders with orchestrations. Music could be beautiful and have attitude. We could learn from these pioneers.
