Cambodia was constantly at war for more than 20 years. Landmines were widely used by all sides. Each time an area changed hands fresh mines were laid in areas that were already heavily contaminated. Cambodia is one of the most heavily mined areas in the world; some estimates run as high as ten million mines (in a country of 11.5 million people), though the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) estimates 4 to 6 million mines. Cambodia is also littered with other kinds of unexploded ordinance (UXO), left over from half a million tons of bombs dropped on Cambodia by the United States in the late 60s and early 70s. Victim people have no doubts about who was to blame for robbing them of their hands and legs. Many of them knew their villages and fields were mined but they needed to work the land in order to survive. Khmer Women's Voice Centre and Women's Media Centre of Cambodia with funding in part by CANADA FUND produced educational video production on landmines to provide awareness for local people. Pls stop producing mine. Put yourself in the victims' shoe, you will know how they fell. :-(

land mines are the worst weapons of all - decades after the war has stopped they continue to kill and maim innocent people.
