If he is right (I doubt he is, he even admits to being unsure and possibly presumptuous) people shouldn't think that just because these subjects aren't science in the sense that physics or chemistry is, that they aren't as important.

This video should be played in some Ted talks where most of the so called "social scientists" present their theories (if you really call them theories) based on the result 13 people surveys!

@moocowtoyou I'm much more interested in bio-psych/evolutionary psych. I don't want to help people, I want to try and help figure out what makes us tick.

@BatmanOneOhOne my dear friend youre confused about what psychology can consist of... this is a point of view accurate for how psych worked decades ago. Psychology today is as much a strict scientific process abiding to hoc post hoc laws, etc. do you want to treat people for their emotional difficulties or do you want to find out statistical answers about human populations? those are both aspects of psych these days, you tend to choose your route once you enter grad school

@BatmanOneOhOne He didn't say that. He just said that the field doesn't weed out smatterers (idiots). There are smart people in the humanities, and usually they were scientists who decided to change fields. Crack open an "educational psychology" text book. It's just retarded. I can't give it anything more delicate than that. It's retarded.

@WrestlingHeretic Arrogance? He is only appealing to what he knows and acknowledges he could be wrong. Contempt? Maybe, but it's kind of hard to express what you see as a deep flaw without sounding a tad mean. Boo hoo?

He could, just to be sporting, try to manage a call for reform of the social sciences without such seething condescension, however.
The day I decide to be a psychologist, I find a video of Richard Feynman talking about how stupid the social sciences are. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

He is just saying that you have to be sceptical towards all things that are not scientifical proven! Never take them for granted one day u might get suprised that the expert XY was entirely wrong..
Look @ the proffessional Economists for example they fail all the time although they sound rly smart in what they are proposing ^.^
