@IrishAquarius no wonder venereal disease ran rampant in those days ( not saying it does now). There were so many "randy andies" out there which is why I think syphilis was more common then than it is now...

Just by looking at the way the French women gazed at Adams, there was so much opportunity to cheat on one's wife, it's disgusting! I know Benjamin Franklin had a huge appetite for women over in France...Adam from what I've read remained forever faithful to his wife Abigail...back in those times, cheating on one's wife was very common especially amongst plantation owners and their slaves...Women were second class citizens and wouldn't dare leave their husbands...
