Todd Duncan,( Oregon State Alumni 84' ) lead vocalist for Crazy 8s , co-conducted with Dr. Brad McDavid, the UW marching band's performance of Crazy 8s tune, "Johnny Q" (written by Tim Tubb) after the OSU vs. UW football game in Seattle on October 16, 2010.
Although the Huskies prevailed (this time) in an exciting, 1 pt,double OT victory, Todd dutifully donned his Beaver hat & Crazy 8 t-shirt. The Oregon State Marching band (Dr. Brad Townsend conducting) also sounded brilliant, also looked sharp, and played after the game as well.
Crazy 8s formed in Corvallis, Or (1982) when several original members were attending school at O.S.U. Todd & Crazy 8s bassist Mike Regan where proud members of the Oregon State Marching Band regularly participating in the BEAVER spell-out on many soggy Saturdays.
Look for a Crazy 8s surprise when the O.S.U. band performs during the OSU-Cal game.
Many thanks & Kudos to the Dr. Brad's , UW, & OSU.

  • I am a member of the Oregon State marching band and moments like these I will cherish my whole life! Out of all the other bands in the Pac-10 the Husky band is the coolest and most fun band to go visit or have visit. I always love how cool they are and we all have a blast doing these post game concerts. We all end up dancing to each other's songs no matter what lol Go Beavers and go Huskies

  • Oh yeah, and Johnny Q was one of my absolute favorites to play. "Naked. Why aren't we naked?!"

  • I'm in the Oregon State Marching band also, and I have so much respect for the Husky Band. You guys rock!!

  • I hope these kids appreciate this. I would kill for the chance to play with the Crazy 8s, or be taught by Todd Duncan.

  • @sharkfreak450

    rock on !

  • The Dawg Marching Band should add Crazy 8's "Scratch & Claw" to their repertoire

  • My years in Husky Band were absolutely the best years of my life and Johnny Q and Sunny Spot being my favorite songs. I had never even heard of the Crazy 8's prior to my band years but have bought a couple of their albums since. Great stuff.

  • Our high school plays this song and its by far one of our favorite songs too! :)

  • How freakin' cool was that?!?! Absolutely incredible!

  • A bunch of us Husky Band'ers used to go see the 8's play the Ballard Firehouse. Kristin Kreifels (nee' Cronin) came up with the idea to have HMB Asst. Director Doug Cheney arrange Johhny Q for us. Been a band favorite ever since! -Louis
