--------------------------------------------------------------

Asche-Deutschland-1945 Is the first film to unbury the horrors endured by the german population in the hands of the allied nations (USA, UK, and the Soviet Russia).

Dresden was one of the many victims of the allied strategy of terror bombing. The firestorm produced by the bombs almost completely destroyed the city and caused an estimated 135 000 deaths.

  • Firebombing trapped victims of an evil regime is wrong. It didn't end the war and was way in excess of what was required to demobilise the cities. In GB what gets me is the myths that stick: one being Dresden payback for Coventry, another that we cared about the Jews. This in a country that I grew up in with notices on Guest House doors : NO IRISH, NO JEWS, NO BLACKS! Now it's 'fashionable' to be related to any of these, anything but ENGLISH- funny really!

  • Germany didn't start WW1, Austria did. Germnay got the blame. Many other cities where just as much destroyed by Allies in WW2: Bremen, Konigsberg, Nurmeberg, Potsdam, and 50 others german cities.

Too bad for all of us; we now all miss the cance to see the beauty of all theese magnificant cities as they where. Fuck war and Hitler

  • @helenheather What is Zyklon B you ugly bitch

  • The 240,000 who were killed in Warsaw (wiki) by the Luftwaffe in Sept 1939 did not deserve to be killed nor did the hundreds of thousands murdered by Einsatzgruppen nor the millions, shot, gassed, hung, beaten or starved to death in the camps but they died nonetheless. Those who died in London by the V2 rockets which were still falling while Dresen was being bombed did not deserve to die. Boming stopped the poison gas made in Chemische Fabrik Goye in Dresden from killing many more people.

  • @fluffy1931 The lens factory for Praktica cameras was and still is in Dresden, but I really thought that Jena was the home of optic lenses. If you are correct , I appreciate the correction , no need for insults. That said, the fact that Dresden was bombed horrifically and excessively and that helpless people were massacred is still the issue and your attempts to side track this by being insulting make no difference.

  • @helenheather ..,thats because Zeiss factory in Dresden was bombed, you twit.

  • PS the Zeiss factory was and still is in Jena , not Dresden.

  • @helenheather ..,The US Air Force Historical Division wrote a report in response to the international concern about the bombing, which was classified until Dec 1978. Dresden - 110 factories and 50,000 workers in the city supporting the German war effort at the time of the raid. According to the report, there were aircraft components factories; a poison gas factory (Chemische Fabrik Goye and Company); an anti-aircraft and field gun factory (Lehman); an optical goods factory (Zeiss Ikon AG); etc.

  • @helenheather

This world is upside down. Hope we will escape through the Ozone Hole.
