I completely agree with you man statutory rape is a load of crap. Here in Australia age of consent is 16 which I think is ridiculous people should decide when they are ready for sex not have the state dictate them and put fear on them. 18 year old having sex with a 14 year if its completely consensual in my eyes is not a crime. Another thing statutory rape does is allow girls who are jealous or hate their ex to accuse them and have them charged for no reason its all bullshit.

That's a misunderstanding. There are no cost-effective means of reasonable or expedient ID verification in most states so the perpetrators in most cases have no way of knowing that the person is below the age of consent. Usually, the perpetrator is set up.

You don't understand the law. If the person underage has a fake ID and the sex occurs, it's still charged as a strict liability crime.

I'm fourteen and my boyfriend just turned eighteen. we have been dating for 9 months and have not had sex yet. my parents threatened him for statutory rape, and it's ruined both of our lives. im a different person. i can't sleep,lost weight, and hold so much anger. we love each other and still do. what he did was not a crime. he is not a rapist. because of this my teenage years are ruined. i can't wait until i turn eighteen.

Agreed. My boyfriend went to jail for 4 months because a girl stalked him and I threatened her. She said they had sex and made a whole story up! I question her about tattoos, scars, etc, she get every question wrong. So somehow, my boyfriend still went to jail for 4 months. Fuck the legal system it's all lies.

@DuckwalkSupreme Hey there I started dating my boyfriend at 14 and he was 18. It really wasn't that big of a difference. Get us together, and we can have a great time together. I was pretty mature for my age, and I see no problem with my relationship. And since we are now engaged after a few years, I don't see it as that much of a problem. If him and I were to have a child I would be perfectly okay with her dating someone 4 years and 6 months older, because that is the age difference between us.
