Everyone complains that light sport aircraft are too expensive, but Kitfox is doing something about it. AVweb recently went to Homedale, Idaho to try out Kitfox's new moderately priced LSA.
Why would you want to open the doors in flight? Are you kidding? Obviously you have never done it. The wind in your hair. Incredible visibility for shooting pics. Its like riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Its awesome.
@PeetPeeet Yes you can get used C152s from the early 70s for that cheap but to be quite honest with you, unless it has an almost flawless track-record and impecable maintenance history I wouldn't even do a test-flight in it.
Cost to build is high yes. But the used market they sell for a mere fraction of new cost.. Fun factor is high but for an investment most Kitplanes are expensive.
The reason we all starsted to build Kitplanes 30 years ago was to save money. Now build to spend more ? Must be something I don;t see here ?

@kitfoxflyer My guess is the government has something to do with it. I think that is an excellent place to start.

I've seen used C152s going for $10,000. This airplane costs more than my house, it is not cheap.
