Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder
ADHD

Dr. John Breeding, professor, author and Ph.D. psychologist discusses ADHD.

Millions of American school children are placed on mind-altering stimulant medications for ADHD. Is there any biological basis for calling ADHD a mental illness? What test exists to diagnosis ADHD? What criteria are used to diagnosis a child with ADHD?

In these series of videos Dr. Breeding give you the straight truth about ADHD and ADD.

Medications like Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, Dexedrine, Strattera, Focalin and Metadata all have undesirable side effects and can damage a person's organs.

So if you child is having difficulty, what can you do besides give them drugs? Dr. Breeding discusses how to deal with children effectively.

this is just a question, I'm not taking any stance because I really don't know enough, but I have heard that people who take ritalin who DO NOT have "add" or"adhd" become hyperactive from it, whereas those who have "add" or "adhd" apparently calm down when taking ritalin.

I was wondering if this was true, and why.

thank you for this video, it is very interesting :)

That's not true. It simply depends on the dosage.

If you take too much a stimulant it will cause you to slow down and a child's dose of a stimulant will generally speed up an adult who has a much larger body.

I recall talking to a drug abuser once and I asked him what it was like to be on crystal meth and he went on and on about how well he could concentrate when high on crystal meth.

ADHD drugs are banned from the Olympics and many sporting events (even high school sports) often because they give the athlete and unfair advantage. They are performance enhancer drugs for anyone regardless of an ADHD diagnosis or not.

Additionally, they are common drugs of abuse in both high school and college students who do not have ADHD but who take them to stay up all night studying or to help improve their concentration and sometimes cheerleaders even take them to help w/ weight loss.

My brother had ADHD and my dad REFUSED to put him on medications because he saw other kids who looked like "zombies" when they were on medications. My brother has turned out just fine without meds. My dad just spent a lot of time going on walks with him, talking to him about ways to "calm down his mind" and control his impulses and calm any anger issues he had. My brother is now an 18 year old senior and he's done just fine without any drugs.

The anti-drug campaigns target Marijuana as dangerous on so many levels, yet, there is so little attention paid to the overdoses and deaths from prescription meds. MJ is a wonderplant, and the govt. has lost all credibility from its Reefer Madness propaganda through the years.

My brother with adhd turned out to be a psychopath and narcist. It's a pity he was such a good sportsmen had a lot of talent, but that's the downside of having adhd.

ADHD in the intellectual sense (which necessarily impacts behavior) is merely a different way in which some people are born to acquire knowledge - that's it. I've had ADHD since childhood and finally figured out and come to understand, by the grace of the Lord, exactly what it is. It's NOT a 'disorder' - only a different way of processing/acquiring knowledge.

did anyone ever thought that everyone and thier own case? your doing it wrong Dr. and its not your place to say this things as "the Truth" the truth is that some people can function without the stimulents, and to others it just makes thier life much better cuz they can finally do things that they couldnt before. the main problem is the WHOLE drug abuse in america. people pop pills [anti-depressions for exp] like its painkillers. talk about that and dont destroy peoples lives with your "Truth".

Dr. Bruce Levine who is also a psychologist with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology is also speaking the truth. Another good one who is actually a psychiatrist in education only is Dr. Peter Breggin.
