#26 Why Worship? Quick Questions For Mormons

Why would something that is perfect, like god, require us to worship him? If something is indeed perfect, then it doesn't need, want, or require anything. This makes absolutely no sense.

@EvidenceMinistries then he's not really perfect then, is he? Again, if something is "perfect" then it's totally complete. It doesn't require, need, want, desire, etc, anything whatsoever. Think about it.

@evelsteev- You are equating a requirement with need. The two are not the same. If you look at the rules on my channel, those are basically REQUIREMENTS that I have placed upon those who comment here. I do not NEED anyone to follow them to make me complete. If they don't follow them, then bye-bye. The same thing applies to God. He REQUIRES our worship as a condition of our relationship with Him. He does not NEED it to be complete.

Do you mean "require" as in it is meant to fill some need of his? Or "require" as in it is meant for us to be saved? If you mean the first, Mormons do not believe that. If you mean the second, he requires it so that we can be saved. That said, all of your lead-up to the question does not make sense.  Anyway, I worship him because he is God, my Eternal Father.

I meant "require" in neither option that you pose. God requires our worship because He is God and we are not... and never will be.

@EvidenceMinistries So why does it matter if we follow him or not? A perfect being doesn't need anything. If you want or need something, that means you lack something. Sure, you can still desire something even if you don't need it, but what would be the point? It makes no sense.

But again, why does a perfect being, who is supposedly flawless, "require" us to worship him in order to be saved? Because if we don't obey him, we go to hell forever. If he didn't really want us to worship him, then why does he send us to hell for NOT worshiping him? Think about it.
