  • @Pugzz

The interest of the movie isn't in how hard where the events depicted but how the whole village symbolizes a kind of island isolated from society in which the religious authority of the bishop and the domination of the rich lander has some influences. It is interesting in the ambivalence of all caracters also and so many other things I couldn't telle in English (I am French sorry)

  • @whateverhte

Thanks for this comment which opens me new directors I could never heard of by any other mean (except Bresson which I really love). You just made me my holiday programm haha

Michael Haneke

  • @whateverhte forgot Ingmar Bergman, Carlos Reygadas and Lucrecia Martel. Cheers!

  • So much work just to cast it, my god! Haneke is brilliant in his cinematic style, so strong (though really just common sense) in his moral ideals, and then so humble and casual in interviews you would never expect it from his subversive reputation, more like a friendly grandfather who will discipline us harshly only when needed, without taking sadistic joy in it.

If you love Haneke, be sure to try some films of Bresson, Naruse, Oshima, Fassbinder, and Akerman as well.

  • I 'm so glad for Haneke's win! His work is really interesting, extraordinary and at times extremely breath-taking! I can't wait to see his new film! Congratulations!!!!

  • Ah, he's my favourite director of all time, alongside von Trier, so I'm glad.
