The legendary Mona Best was one of the most important persons in the Beatles' career and in the development of the Liverpool music & club scene in the early Sixties.

The Beatles often played at Mona's popular teen club, the Casbah Coffee Club, and her son Pete joined the group in August, 1960 just as they were about to leave for Hamburg, Germany.

In this short clip, Mona and Pete discuss the dismissal of Pete from the band in 1962.

  • Did they really kick him out because he was handsome? I mean Paul is also pretty cute but he also had the necessary talent in band. It's too easy to blame it on jealousy of his looks but if he was 'really' an asset to the band he would have been kept around. It was the early days when the band was just forming into what it would become and IIRC they had used different drummers before and Best wasn't always around.

It worked out great anyways because we got sweet Ringo.

  • Pete Forever! Ringo Never! Ah,just kidding, of course....

Yeah, and from the beginning the Beatles didn't like the idea of session guys playing for them, i mean back in 63 some magazines accused the beatles of using session guitarists, just to all the george nonrespecters, they thought they sounded so awesome they had session guys xDDD

  • @FalkHuendorf ringo isn't jewish you moron and you obviously have no idea about drumming so shut up

  • @FalkHuendorf you great

  • What a Momma's boy.

  • @Nickofballooni Ringo was brought up in the Evangelical Anglican Church. He had also attended St. Silas, a Church of England primary school.

  • @FalkHuendorf Ringo is not Jewish, although Brian Epstein was.

  • They did not fire Pete Best for Ringo`s drumming ... come on... Ringo can`t play drums !!! And Ringo also did not look better than pete... !!!

They needed a jewish guy in the band to enter the big jewish record companies and Brian Epstein - also jewish - knew that for shure!

  • George Martin told Brian Epstein he didn't want Pete for a probable record session, because during the audition, he observed Pete didn't do it well. Martin would contract a professional drummer himself, but only for the records. That's the reason Paul John and George wanted Pete out of the band, they were afraid to lose a probable contract with EMI (Parlophone). George Martin is a great musician, his opinion is what matters, I feel bad about Pete, but that is life

  • i hate you ringo go die
