Protest at UW over event with Christie Blatchford gets heated

Audience members begin to express their displeasure at protesters who took over the stage before Blatchford could get to the University of Waterloo's Hagey Hall. The event was subsequently canceled.

How sad that these idiots seem to think only their opinions matter. A university is suppose to encourage dialogue of various types of opinion, not suppress them.

And as far as this tactic belonging solely to people on the left, you clearly haven't been following the efforts to prevent George Galloway from speaking in Canada, and more recently, to drown out his Toronto talk with yells and boos. That doesn't make it okay, but any suggestion it's only being done by one side is ridiculous.

i was there and they did not prevent her from coming out she is just not that confident in what she writes to come out and defend it these kids had some good solid points and did there home work i never in my life though i would see how racist people are toward the native isssue it was sad to see people who look like my grandparents being so rude to there youth !

At this point in the night, Christine Blatchford was still not in the city - delayed in traffic because of the fog. Out of the frame to the left, there are three protesters locked together with a bike lock. The woman at the podium is trying to explain the reasons for the protest. The mostly middle-aged supporters in the centre are yelling ("Get your own stage!" among other things) in order to prevent anyone from hearing the explanation for the protest.
