The Tenori-On is great, its advantage is that it is like a sequencer that keeps the beat.
The bad part is that it keeps the beat. I have tried a few music pieces on the Kaossilator, a more low-rent instrument which records sound loops and you have to keep the beat yourself, or improvise away from the beat. Try my video "Dark Taxi".
