A guy showed me one of these with the same v8 set up last weekend. Sad part was it was rusting away along with 20 other cars that he don't have time for.

@KruzFireStarter Thanks, glad you enjoy them!

@mirror7of7stone So what you are suggesting is that without European influence, cars would still be powered by low-HP flathead V8's? Hmmm... and if Ben Franklin hadn't "discovered" electricity we'd all still be using candles. Right.

I had one of these my father and I built one had a 350 chev engine wow it was fast

THATS HOW ITS DONE. You do not put the V8 in the front. If your gonna build a V8 Vair and do not mid-mount the motor, you might as well use a small block Ford.
With V8s, those proved to be awesome sports cars.

@CORVAIRWILD That was amazing! The thought of high-performance Corvairs is so cool, how when given a lot of power, they become sports cars. A comparison with a Corvette (being my favorite car) would be unique and would probably teach lingering skeptics a lot. Thanks for sharing.

As far as I remember, The Corvair was designed using the ideas of the Chevrolet Corvette and the Infamous Bel Air, It was designed a rear/mid engine drive, oh and by the way, the Germans designed Volkswagen and Porsche, I guess I can understand the patriotism of " American Muscle " , but if it werent for german engineering, of 4cylinder engines pushing 90 to 275hp we would still be stuck with Flat-Head V8's that are pushing 180bhp Instead of the last 40 years of 300+ hp engines.. ;)
